I’m an anthropologist and digital strategist working with government, charities and SMEs. I hold a master’s degree (distinction) in Digital Anthropology from UCL.
I set up my consultancy, Sticks & Stones, because I believe we need to create solid, real-world foundations for a more ethical approach to digital tech. Years ago, I wrote a book on how web 2.0 was changing the way we work. I championed social media as a liberating tool to connect us all. Since then, we’ve witnessed the trajectory of social media from a beacon of hope to a problematic symbol of the worst of humanity.
I’m no longer a tech-utopian. But neither am I a complete tech cynic. While we can aspire to harness the very best of digital technology, we must also remain grounded. We need to stay mindful of where we are coming from, and remember what it means to be human. This is what Sticks & Stones is all about.
