I spent six weeks alongside environmental activists in Hastings. My aim was to explore the conflicting narratives and contrasting imaginaries within different stakeholder groups impacted by ongoing sewage pollution, and in particular to analyse the digital data being created.
The fieldwork, consisting of data collection, participant observation and in-depth interviews, was part of a dissertation for my masters in digital anthropology at UCL. I was awarded 82/100 for my final 15,000 word paper, and a distinction overall.
